Residents and drivers in Fort Lauderdale’s Victoria Park neighborhood dealt with significant flooding, leaving some people stuck and some vehicles stranded on Thursday.Robin Comfort said he drove his car through the flooded streets and quickly realized he shouldn’t have.“Well I drove my car down the street and I shouldn’t have. There was too much water in it and just went into the engine I guess. to the engine I guess,” Comfort said.Comfort had been waiting for assistance for a few hours.He said he had been living in Pompano Beach and that it was barely raining when he left.“I knew nothing about what but it was raining dogs and cats on the way in,” he said.For some drivers, the flooding became an unexpected problem.“You have this constant issue.
Why hasn’t something happened about the flooding? A tree fell onto a car Thursday in Fort Lauderdale, injuring one person, according to Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue officials. Officials said the incident happened at 1441 South Miami Road. They said fire rescue crews responded to the scene, and one person was transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.
