A furnace boiler exploded at a steel melting unit in Gummidipoondi, killing one worker. Seven other guest workers sustained severe burn injuries in the powerful blast. Molten metal splashed onto the injured workers during the incident.
Fire and rescue services controlled the blaze and rescued the injured. Police are investigating the cause of the fatal explosion.
