NewzCLARENDON, Jamaica — Police in Clarendon are reporting that a schoolboy was electrocuted on Sunday in Gimme-Me-Bit district when an iron pipe he was reportedly using to pick coconuts got entangled with an electric wire. The deceased has been identified as Rishane Roberts, 16, a student of Garvey Maceo High A police report said about 9:00 am on Sunday, the teen was standing on a rooftop of a shop on the same premises as his home, picking the coconuts with the iron pipe, when he was electrocuted. His 34-year-old mother, upon hearing a commotion, pulled him off the rooftop.
The teen was rushed to the May Pen Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The case has so far been classified as a death by misadventure by detectives pending an autopsy.
