2027: Court dismisses suit challenging ex-governor Duke’s emergence as PRP’s presidential candidate

The Federal High Court in Abuja dismissed a legal challenge on Wednesday regarding the presidential candidacy of former Cross River State Governor Donald Duke. The lawsuit sought to void Duke’s emergence as the flagbearer for the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) ahead of the 2027 general election.

Presiding Judge Mohammed Umar ruled that the plaintiff failed to substantiate their claims against the legitimacy of Duke’s candidacy. With the dismissal of the suit, the court has upheld the status of Duke’s nomination within the party.
