3 Arrested after Manassas City investigation into prostitution at massage parlors

An investigation into an alleged prostitution ring that began with a crime stoppers tip ended Thursday in a series of arrests and business shutdowns led by the Manassas City Police Department in Virginia. According to a statement released by Manassas City police, the operation, dubbed “Operation False Front,” involved businesses and homes in Manassas, Fairfax County and Prince William County. The multijurisdictional operation involved local, state and federal officials, and resulted in the arrests of three people charged with various prostitution related offenses.

One of the women arrested was charged with sexual battery. Six separate massage parlors were also shut down by the City of Manassas Fire Marshal’s Office, and authorities seized several hundred thousand dollars. According to the statement, “several victims” of human trafficking were also identified during the arrests.

The police statement said three people were charged in the operation: 44-year-old Yanzhi Mei, of Prince William County, 65-year-old Yanwu Glick, of Fairfax, and 60-year-old Stephen Smarr, of Manassas. The seven businesses shutdown were the 7 Star Spa, the White Moon Spa, Oriental Massage, Oriental Massage Therapy, The Massage Dragon and Manassas Massage Therapy. “We take these crimes seriously and are committed to addressing illegal activity in our community” and also thanked the community for providing the tip that led to the arrest,” Manassas City police Chief Douglas Keen said in the statement.
