3 killed in Navajo Nation flood include 7-year-old preparing for 8th birthday

Flash flooding driven by a late-season surge of monsoon moisture has struck the Navajo Nation in the Four Corners region, resulting in three deaths. The severe weather caused widespread damage to local infrastructure, including compromised roads, and forced emergency evacuations.

Among the fatalities were three generations of a Navajo family whose truck became stuck in the mud. The victims included a seven-year-old child who was preparing to celebrate their eighth birthday after returning from picking up party supplies.
