KINGSTON, Jamaica—The month of June saw an uptick in road fatalities when 35 road users were killed in 31 fatal motor vehicle crashes across the island. This is according to the latest crash statistics released on June 24 by the Island Traffic Authority (ITA), which said fatalities have increased by three per cent when compared to June 2025 and fatal crashes by seven per cent. At six fatalities each, St Ann and St Catherine recorded the most deaths during the month.
Manchester and Trelawny each had four deaths while three people were killed in Westmoreland. Two road deaths were recorded in Hanover, St James, St Elizabeth, Kingston and St Andrew, and one each in Portland and St Thomas. No fatalities were recorded in Clarendon and St Mary.
The ITA said two children and seven elderly persons were among those killed during the month under review. Overall, 20 passengers were killed. The group classified as being the most vulnerable roads users – motorcyclists, pedalcyclists, pedestrians and pillion passengers combined to account for 51 per cent of all fatalities during the month.
