A California frog is on the brink of extinction. Long Beach’s aquarium has a plan to save it

Biologists at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach are working to rescue a critically endangered California frog population from the brink of extinction. The conservation effort is housed within a tucked-away room featuring three water tanks.

Historically, this population of frogs thrived across the mountainous streams of California before experiencing severe population declines that brought them close to disappearing completely. The current initiative by the Long Beach aquarium represents a targeted intervention aimed at bringing the species back from the edge of extinction.
