A familiar figure, a new voice: Meryl Streep’s Aslan stirs gender debate over Gerwig’s ‘Narnia’

Director Greta Gerwig’s upcoming film adaptation of "The Chronicles of Narnia" has sparked a gender debate and public controversy prior to the release of any footage. The core issue centers on the casting of Meryl Streep to voice the character Aslan.

The casting decision has generated immediate outrage and discussion among conservative Christian commentators, who view the choice through the lens of traditional interpretations of the classic children's book series.
