A Tibetan cooperative keeps a centuries-old weaving tradition alive

In Shannan, Tibet, a local cooperative is actively preserving a centuries-old weaving tradition by producing Pulu, a traditional woolen fabric historically used to clothe people on the Tibetan plateau.

More than a dozen men and women work at wooden looms within the cooperative, manually sliding shuttles through rows of wool yarn and pulling each thread tight in a repetitive, traditional process to manufacture the textile.
