One month after a 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck southwestern Colombia on August 10, the reconstruction of affected areas continues to face challenges, with local leadership calling for long-term investment rather than short-term aid. Mayors Alejandro Eder of Cali and Jorge Eduardo Rojas of Manizales reported that their cities are still dealing with the aftermath of the disaster.

In response to the ongoing crisis, Colombian footballer James Rodríguez announced a financial donation of 150 million pesos, sourced from a portion of his earnings, to support the victims and families affected by the seismic event.
