Dominican Republic: Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez's resignation accepted and Ito Bisonó appointed.

Dominican President Luis Abinader has appointed Víctor 'Ito' Bisonó as the new Minister of Foreign Affairs (canciller de la República), replacing Roberto Álvarez, who had held the position since August 2020. The appointment was formalized through decree 554-26 and announced on the afternoon of Sunday, August 16, coinciding with the Day of the Restoration.

Prior to this appointment, Bisonó served in another government capacity, while Álvarez departed after leading the nation's international policy axis during his tenure. The transition places Bisonó at the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Mirex) under the Abinader administration.
