Legal scholar Chidi Anselm Odinkalu has published an opinion piece in Premium Times criticizing Abubakar Malami, the former Attorney-General of the Federation of Nigeria, over his handling of the Mambilla hydropower arbitration.

According to the commentary, Malami's actions during the arbitration process brought impunity to his office, indignity to the nation of Nigeria, and infamy to himself. The author asserts that the findings within the arbitration tribunal's decision provide more than sufficient grounds to bring Malami before the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee.
