Negeri Sembilan PH chairman Aminuddin Harun said the monarchy is respected by Malaysians of all races, religions and backgrounds, and must be protected from political exploitation.PORT DICKSON: Negeri Sembilan Pakatan Harapan chairman Aminuddin Harun has urged authorities to take immediate action against those attempting to link the state’s royal institution to politics, saying such claims undermine its dignity and integrity.Aminuddin said he had seen social media posts in recent days suggesting that the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan could be associated with DAP.“We all know this is an institution that has always been carefully protected," he told reporters after attending the prime minister’s engagement session with Negeri Sembilan village development and security committee leaders here today."Not only do the Malays respect this institution, but Malaysians of every race, religion and background regard it as an institution that must be defended."He said such claims also created the impression that the Chinese community did not respect the monarchy, calling this "a rude statement" that warranted firm action from security authorities.“It must be done immediately because we do not want action to be taken only after the election, as this affects the dignity and integrity of the royal institution itself,” he said.His remarks came hours after the Negeri Sembilan palace reminded political parties contesting the state election not to exploit the monarchy in their campaign speeches or activities.Comptroller of the Royal Household Azizi Mohamad Ali said the monarchy remained neutral and was not aligned with any political party.He also reminded candidates to avoid exploiting issues involving religion, royalty and race, and urged the public not to spread unverified information.The statement followed the circulation online of a video clip showing Rembau Umno information chief Shukri Shamsuddin’s campaign remarks, leading some to accuse him of disrespecting the royal institution.In the 21-second clip, Shukri, who appeared to be speaking to several people at a house, allegedly said DAP was “controlling” the palace and state powers, to the extent that the “dignity” of certain communities had been affected.
