Armed Forces Acquisitions and Ministry of Defense Spending

Since August 2020, the Dominican Republic's Armed Forces have significantly expanded their operational capacity through the acquisition of 1,206 vehicles. The inventory upgrades include new armored units, helicopters, drones, patrol vessels, and various armaments.

Concurrent with these acquisitions, the Ministry of Defense has experienced a substantial budgetary shift. Annual spending by the ministry has nearly doubled in nominal terms during this period.
