Adriano Espaillat rules out running as an independent candidate

U.S. Congressman Adriano Espaillat, who is of Dominican origin, has ruled out running as an independent candidate in the upcoming New York elections to defend his seat in Congress against Democratic candidate Darializa Ávila.

Instead of pursuing an independent bid, Espaillat called for efforts to save the Democratic Party during a challenging political moment.
