KINGSTON, Jamaica — Advantage General Insurance Company has officially changed its name to Sagicor General Insurance Jamaica Limited, bringing the general insurer more directly under the Sagicor brand seven years after it became part of Sagicor Group Jamaica. The company said the rebranding will involve a change in its name and visual identity, but its products, services and existing teams will remain in place throughout the transition. Advantage General became a member of Sagicor Group Jamaica in 2019 and has since been undergoing greater integration within the financial conglomerate.
Sagicor said the latest move is intended to deepen that integration and give the general insurer greater access to the wider group's resources and capabilities. Dave Morrison, chief executive officer of Sagicor General Insurance Jamaica, says the rebranding brings Advantage General’s decades of experience and customer relationships together with the wider resources and reach of the Sagicor Group. Advantage General has operated in Jamaica's general insurance market for more than 60 years.
The company said the new identity is intended to place that history more visibly within the Sagicor brand while supporting further expansion and innovation. Patrick Hinkson, president and chief executive officer of Sagicor General Insurance, said the rebranding would also connect the Jamaican business more closely with Sagicor's regional network, allowing the companies to share expertise and other capabilities across markets. Under the new name, Sagicor General Insurance Jamaica said it will continue offering general insurance services while drawing more extensively on resources across the wider Sagicor Group.
