Afghan allies still waiting for the safety Germany promised

Nearly three years after the Taliban retook power in Afghanistan on August 15, 2021, Afghan local staff and allies who aided Germany remain stranded in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Despite formal promises made by Berlin to evacuate and relocate these individuals to ensure their safety, many are still waiting to leave the region.
