A tourist who tested positive for hantavirus is isolated in Spain with his family: he traveled through France at the end of July

Health authorities have confirmed that a Franco-Argentine tourist who tested positive for hantavirus andes is currently isolated with their family in Galicia, Spain. The patient is asymptomatic and does not require hospital admission following the diagnosis, which stemmed from a sample collected previously in France.

The case was initially identified and notified by the French Ministry of Health after the tourist and their family traveled through France during the second half of July. Subsequently, Spanish health authorities confirmed the isolation measures in coordination with the international notification.
