Bakr El Asri, world under-20 champion in the 3,000-meter steeplechase

At the World Athletics U20 Championships held in Eugene, United States, Spanish athletes secured notable podium finishes in track and field events. Bakr El Asri, a 19-year-old Catalan competitor, claimed the gold medal in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase with a winning time of 8:28.35, defeating Kenyan runners Emmanuel Lemiso Someki and Nic, who finished behind him.

In the women's high jump competition, 17-year-old Aitana Alonso secured Spain's first medal of the championships by winning the bronze. Alonso achieved a mark of 1.90 meters, which also established a new Spanish under-20 record in the discipline.
