Nepal confirms 517 foreign tourists missing after floods, most of them Indian

A massive flood has struck the border region between northern Nepal and the Tibet region of China, resulting in a significant loss of life and widespread disappearances. Official reports indicate that at least 180 people have died, with recovery efforts concentrated in areas including Chitwan, Dhading, and Nawalparasi East. Search and rescue operations remain ongoing across the affected territory.

Authorities have reported nearly 1,400 missing persons across both nations. Among those unaccounted for, the Nepal Tourism Board has confirmed that 517 are foreign tourists, the majority of whom are Indian nationals, with at least three Spanish citizens also reported missing. The situation remains in flux as officials continue to revise casualty figures and conduct recovery missions.
