Alaska’s largest recorded gold nugget, found in 1998, later sold for $750,000

In 1998, a miner in Alaska discovered the largest recorded gold nugget in the state's history. The extraordinary specimen, a massive combination of gold and quartz weighing over twenty pounds, became known as the Alaska Centennial Nugget.

Following its discovery, the high-value piece was held in a private collection before eventually being sold for $750,000.
