VIDEO: EU Interior Ministers Agree to Strengthen Borders, Returns and Early Warning System After Crisis in Ceuta

Interior ministers from the European Union and Schengen-associated countries have agreed to strengthen external borders, increase returns, enhance cooperation with third countries, and establish an early warning system. The decision follows a recent migration crisis in the Spanish North African city of Ceuta.

German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt highlighted the crisis as evidence of the volatility of current migration dynamics. Speaking from Berlin, he called for the reinforcement of European borders through physical barriers and preventative measures to better anticipate and manage future pressures.
