Alert over lack of census of earthquake victims in Colombia

The Colombian Ombudsperson, Iris Marín, issued a warning on Wednesday in Quibdó regarding the aftermath of a magnitude 7.4 earthquake that struck on Monday. Speaking from one of the affected cities, Marín highlighted that the absence of an official census is currently preventing authorities from establishing the exact number of victims.

Furthermore, the lack of this demographic data is severely hindering relief efforts, complicating the provision of necessary aid and assistance to thousands of affected individuals in the wake of the seismic event.
