Alexandrova collapses on court during defeat as Memphis heat takes toll

World number 19 Ekaterina Alexandrova collapsed on the court and was forced to retire from her first-round match at the Memphis Classic. The incident occurred during the tournament as extreme temperatures reached 34 degrees Celsius.

Alexandrova, who was playing against Kristina Liutova and entered the competition as the tournament's top seed, suffered a heat-related illness that ultimately caused her to withdraw from the match.
