Former European Commissioners Joaquín Almunia and Josep Borrell, alongside approximately one hundred academics, publicly criticized the European Commission on Thursday regarding its passivity toward internal border controls implemented by certain EU member states concerning Ceuta.

The signatories denouncing the European Union's inaction highlight concerns over border control measures and the oversight exercised by Brussels.
