Amnesty calls for arrest of 87 Iran officials over 'crimes against humanity' during protests

Amnesty International has released a report accusing Iranian authorities of committing crimes against humanity during the crackdown on the 2022 protests. The demonstrations, which left hundreds dead, were sparked by the death of Mahsa Amini and gave rise to the "Woman, Life, Freedom" movement.

In response to these findings, the organization is calling for the arrest of 87 Iranian officials. The newly published report also warns that an ongoing US-Israel war is currently fueling spiralling repression in the country, exactly four years after the onset of the historic protests.
