Ancient Egyptian fortress uncovers soldiers’ homes, royal inscriptions, and horse burial

Archaeologists have uncovered an ancient Egyptian fortress containing residential quarters for soldiers, royal inscriptions, and a horse burial. The site provides new physical evidence of military infrastructure and historical activity from the period of the New Kingdom.

In addition to the structural findings, the excavation yielded a collection of scarabs. These artifacts feature the names of Pharaohs Ramesses II and Seti I, alongside inscriptions referencing various Egyptian deities, including Amun, Sekhmet, Ptah, and Set.
