Apodosis of the Dormition of our Most Holy Lady the Theotokos and Ever Virgin Mary

The Apodosis of the Dormition of the Theotokos is observed on August 23, marking the conclusion of the feast originally celebrated on August 15. This liturgical event serves as the final day of the festal period for the Dormition of the Virgin Mary.

During the Apodosis, the church repeats the liturgical celebrations of the primary feast day. While the core observances remain consistent with the August 15 celebration, specific modifications are made to the entrance, readings, Litya at Vespers, and the polyeleos and Gospel readings at Matins.
