Applied, invested, still outside: Pakistan is still waiting at the Brics door

Pakistan is currently awaiting admission into the BRICS bloc, having officially applied for membership in 2023 as the organization prepared for a major expansion under Russia's presidency.

The bid for inclusion was publicly confirmed by Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch during a weekly press briefing, marking Pakistan's formal diplomatic effort to join the growing intergovernmental grouping.

Despite its application and investment in pursuing ties with the bloc, Pakistan remains outside of the organization, highlighting the ongoing evaluation process surrounding BRICS membership expansions.
