World 1 source 1 country 🔦 Under-reported 25m ago

Archaeologists have discovered the long-lost ancient theatre of Agrigento, a structure that had been missing for the past century despite the site's renowned status for housing the largest Doric temple in the Greek world in Sicily's Valley of the Temples. Prior to the find, no ancient writers had mentioned the theatre's existence.

The building was uncovered in the summer of 2015. It is located on the southern edge of the ancient site, approximately 300 yards away from the church of San Nicolò.
