Artists' $95K bid to save Nina Simone home ends with $850K restoration

Nina Simone’s childhood home in Tryon, North Carolina, has completed a major restoration project following years of vacancy and severe decay. The 650-square-foot, three-room property was purchased by a group of artists in 2017 for $95,000. Following the acquisition, the structure underwent an $850,000 rehabilitation process to preserve its original features.

The project concludes over two decades of neglect for the site, which had fallen into disrepair. The restoration effort ensures the preservation of the historical landmark associated with the late musician's early life.
