Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthis have become an increasingly disruptive force in the Mideast

Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels launched a wave of missile attacks on Tuesday targeting Saudi Arabian cities and energy facilities, including Saudi oil facilities. The heaviest attack from the group in years resulted in 73 injuries and caused fires, prompting Saudi authorities to vow to respond and hit back against the aggression.

The escalation follows the collapse of a four-year truce in July, occurring amid a wider Middle East conflict involving the United States. In recent years, the Houthi movement has increasingly established itself as a disruptive regional force, launching strikes that have targeted Israel, Saudi Arabia, and critical global shipping routes.
