Asaba Incident: Aircraft’s black box data overwritten after crew flew back to Lagos – NSIB

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) revealed that the black box data from an aircraft involved in a wrong-surface landing incident in Asaba was overwritten after the crew flew the plane back to Lagos. The disclosure was made 65 days after the incident occurred on June 10.

According to the NSIB, the aircraft's return to Lagos prior to the arrival of investigators resulted in the loss of critical flight data. This overwritten information could have otherwise helped investigators establish the exact sequence of events during the incident in Asaba.
