South Africa police hunt suspects after 27 killed in two separate shootings

South African police have launched a manhunt following two separate shooting incidents that resulted in at least 27 deaths and over 20 injuries. The first attack occurred late Saturday at a tavern in the Wedela township, located southwest of Johannesburg, where 17 individuals were killed and 15 wounded. Emergency medical services confirmed that all 17 victims in the Wedela incident died at the scene.

Authorities are currently searching for eight suspects in connection with the violence. The incidents have drawn attention to broader concerns regarding organized crime and gang-related activity in South Africa, a nation that currently maintains one of the highest per capita murder rates globally.
