At least 2,500 buildings were destroyed in Nepal's Trishuli Valley following tsunami-like glacial floods that occurred on August 26. This destruction accounts for approximately two-thirds of all buildings located within the three potentially affected zones studied.

The findings are based on an Agence France-Presse (AFP) computation of data provided by Europe's Copernicus observatory and its emergency management service. Prior to the disaster, the Trishuli Valley was home to a population of nearly 6,000 people.
