Attorney general asks court to freeze Karhi’s media law, citing serious legal flaws

Israel's Attorney General, Gali Baharav-Miara, has formally requested that the court freeze Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi's proposed media legislation.

According to the legal assessment, the legislation contains serious legal flaws and weakens essential safeguards for independent news coverage. The Attorney General also noted that the push for the law is particularly sensitive given the ongoing election campaign.
