Attorney-general asks High Court to block PID appointments until after October elections

Israel's Attorney-General has asked the High Court to block appointments to the Police Investigation Department (PID) until after the scheduled October elections.

The legal action involves court consideration of several petitions directed against a law passed in June. This legislation removes the PID from the State Attorney’s Office and places it more directly under the authority of the Justice Ministry.
