Death toll rises in Colombia after earthquake

Following a major earthquake that struck Colombia on Monday, the death toll has risen to 265, with 3,494 injured and 496 individuals still reported missing.

In response to the disaster, President Abelardo de la Espriella announced the casualties and missing persons figures on Wednesday. To address the unfolding crisis, the president has formally declared a state of economic emergency.
