An Australian entrepreneur who relocated from Brisbane to Athens says moving to Greece has been one of the best decisions he and his family have ever made, opening doors to opportunities he never imagined possible back home. Dimitri Platsis moved to the Greek capital 18 months ago and has since become an advocate for embracing life abroad. He credits Greece not only for its lifestyle and culture but also for helping him grow professionally and personally.

“Not only did I come to a place where I love the culture, the lifestyle and everything like that, but it’s actually helped me get ahead a lot more than I would have back home,” Platsis told News24 Australia. The startup founder said relocating to Greece fundamentally changed the way he views business and opportunity. “I just started seeing things very differently,” he explained.

“I started seeing these opportunities that exist here that didn’t exist in Australia.” Having worked as an entrepreneur in Australia, Platsis admitted he often felt new ideas were difficult to pursue because markets were already saturated or someone else had beaten him to it. “In Australia, I used to think any idea I had was always going to be difficult to do, or someone was already doing it,” he said. “Whereas when you come here, because no one knows you, there’s no expectation.

So you literally have this freedom that did not exist before.” Platsis believes Greece offers significant opportunities across a range of industries, particularly for entrepreneurs willing to bring fresh ideas from overseas. He highlighted sectors including real estate, property development, tourism, hospitality, technology, digital businesses and startups as areas with enormous potential. “Some of the biggest opportunities I see are in bringing ideas to Greece from outside of Greece,” he said.

The entrepreneur has been documenting his family’s journey on social media, where he recently described moving abroad as “the best decision” he and his wife could have made. “There’s so much opportunity here that I didn’t know existed until moving here,” he said in a recent Instagram video. “Go back 18 months ago, I didn’t even know that a lot of these opportunities even presented themselves in Greece.”Advertising1 (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Leaving Behind Australia’s Fast-Paced Lifestyle While Platsis speaks fondly of Australia, he admits th…
