Australia probes near-miss collision of two planes on tarmac at Sydney airport

Australian authorities are investigating a near-miss collision between two passenger aircraft on the tarmac at Sydney airport. The incident occurred when a Jetstar plane, which was taxiing for takeoff to the Gold Coast in Queensland, came into close proximity with a Qatar Airways aircraft.

According to the regulator, the flight crew of the Jetstar aircraft spotted the Qatar Airways plane on a crossing taxiway. At the time of the near-miss, the Qatar Airways aircraft was not operating under its own power but was instead being towed by an aircraft tug.
