Australian Olympian banned over horse whipping video

Australian Olympian Heath Ryan has been banned by an international panel following the release of a video showing him striking a horse 41 times.

Ryan defended his actions by claiming he saved the animal from the knackery, but the panel concluded that the number and nature of the strikes constituted abuse.
