Mexican authorities have captured a suspect known as the “Ingeniero,” or “Engineer,” who is alleged to be responsible for designing and constructing sophisticated cross-border tunnels used to traffic illicit drugs into the United States.

The arrest took place in the municipality of Zapopan, located in the western Mexican state of Jalisco. Details of the operation and the suspect's identity were made public through an official statement issued on a Friday.
