Update on the exhumations at Cuelgamuros: 602 bodies found and 25 already identified

Since the beginning of exhumations in 2023 at the Cuelgamuros mausoleum, formerly known as the Valle de los Caídos in Spain, a total of 602 bodies have been recovered from common graves. Out of these findings, 25 individuals have been successfully identified and subsequently returned to their respective families.

The ongoing exhumation process targets the historical burial site associated with the former Spanish dictator Francisco Franco. The latest figures mark a significant milestone in the recovery and identification efforts directed at addressing the remains housed within the former mausoleum.
