‘Basis for understanding’ brings Iraqi Kurdistan closer to new government

Positive signs have emerged in Erbil and Sulaymaniyah indicating that an agreement leading to the formation of a new government in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq may be nearing.

The political process had been delayed for nearly two years due to ongoing disputes between the region's two historic political rivals, the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan.
