Belfast native and Labour candidate voted in as Manchester mayor, succeeding Andy Burnham

Bev Craig, a Belfast native and Labour Party candidate, has been elected as the new mayor of Greater Manchester. The result was confirmed following a lengthy counting process that concluded more than 24 hours after polling stations closed.

Craig succeeds Andy Burnham, who held the position prior to this transition. The Labour Party successfully retained the mayoralty, maintaining its political leadership in the region following the conclusion of the vote.
