Belize Reef Restoration Effort: Lisa Carne revives storm-hit corals; project outplants 100,000 fragments

In the aftermath of Hurricane Iris, which caused severe damage to Belize's coral reefs in 2001, marine biologist Lisa Carne initiated a coral restoration project. Through her organization, Fragments of Hope, Carne took the lead in replanting neglected coral fragments.

The initiative has successfully outplanted more than 100,000 coral fragments, representing a significant conservation effort to revive storm-hit marine ecosystems in the region.
