NewzKINGSTON, Jamaica — Dwaine Williams has resigned as general manager of Berger Paints Jamaica Limited after less than three years at the helm, leaving regional coatings executive Nicholas Mac Lean to oversee the company until a replacement is appointed. Williams’s resignation took effect on July 23, Berger disclosed to the Jamaica Stock Exchange. The company did not give a reason for his departure or indicate when it expects to appoint a new general manager.
Williams was appointed in October 2023, replacing Shashi Mahase. His tenure included Berger’s return to profitability in 2024, investments in production capacity and the introduction of products targeting new market segments. Berger said Williams provided leadership and supported the company’s development and growth.
His resignation comes as the paint manufacturer reports improving demand and earnings following the disruption caused by Hurricane Melissa during the final quarter of 2025. Revenue increased 16 per cent from $769.2 million to approximately $890 million during the three months ended March 2026. Net profit rose from $10.9 million to approximately $31 million, although part of the improvement resulted from a favourable movement in foreign-exchange gains.
Mac Lean, who is already a director of Berger Paints Jamaica, is managing director of the coatings business within parent company ANSA McAL Group. His regional responsibilities include ANSA Coatings and Berger Paints operations across the Caribbean. Berger said he would oversee the Jamaican business during the transition to maintain operational continuity.
It did not say whether he is being considered for the position permanently.
