Beyond fighter jets: India is building a new family of engines for missiles and drones

India has successfully developed a new 350 kg class expendable turbojet engine designed for missile systems. In addition to this development, the nation has demonstrated a 5 kN thrust class rotating detonation engine, marking a significant step in its domestic aerospace propulsion capabilities.

These technological advancements are intended to enhance the speed and range of Indian missile systems. By expanding its engine development beyond fighter jets to include missiles and drones, India aims to strengthen its indigenous defense manufacturing sector and join a select group of nations possessing this specific propulsion technology.
