Big 12 commish mulls new event if CFP ends conference title games

Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark has announced that the conference will develop a new event to replace its conference championship game if an expanded College Football Playoff leads to the elimination of such matchups.

The potential restructuring stems from ongoing discussions regarding the expansion of the College Football Playoff format, which could render traditional conference title games obsolete. Yormark indicated that the Big 12 is proactively planning for this potential shift to maintain its event calendar and revenue opportunities.
